IT Security Engineer (M365)
Join our IT Security team to secure Microsoft 365 services, resolve security challenges and continuously improve our security and backup infrastructure.
Position overview
To strengthen our Information Security team, we are looking for IT Security Engineer to assist in the extremely important task of keeping MDPI’s infrastructure secure and to strengthen M365 security monitoring and integration.
Core Responsibilities
Assist in implementing and maintaining security measures for Microsoft 365 (M365) services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams and related platforms
Monitor security alerts and incidents, escalating as necessary and ensuring timely resolution
Maintaining and optimizing IT, network security & backup systems based on service requirements
Collaborating with development teams in order to optimize system implementation according to service requirements
Provide support and solutions to IT users for security issues (L2/L3 tier)
Maintain, evaluate and optimize IT and network security & backup systems
Good to have:
Basic knowledge on security configurations and hardening of Linux-based systems in accordance with best practices
Working knowledge of AWS security tools and services
Experience with security assessments and penetration testing, including vulnerability identification and remediation strategies
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity or related field (or 2 years of equivalent practical experience)
• Basic understanding of Microsoft 365 services, including Entra, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and Teams.
• Basic knowledge of Linux operating systems and experience with Bash scripting
• Familiarity with security concepts and principles, such as access control, encryption and vulnerability management
• Able to work independently and proactively
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Fundamentals, CompTIA Security+) are a plus
