About the position

In the role of Senior PHP Developer you will be working on one of our customer facing platforms and providing technical mentoring and support to more junior developers to ensue high standards and implementing development best practices. This role is specifically focused on the Scilit project (https://www.scilit.com/), a comprehensive content platform for scholarly publications developed and maintained by MDPI.

Tasks & Responsibilities

• Development of all software code in accordance with the standards and quality of the Employer and within the set deadlines
• Maintenance of the existing software
• Advanced quality control and software testing
• Defining and implementing standards and procedures within the information technology sector
• Mentoring and supporting the lower-level developers
• If working in Tech Lead capacity, control and organization of development backlog in co-ordination with the Project Manager
• Coordination of IT resources alongside IT Management and Product Management
• Maintaining knowledge of trends, best practices, and new technologies in the fiel

• Main Technologies used: PHP, Symfony Framework, MVC, VueJS, Nuxt and Type Script
• Other technologies used : HTML5, CSS, SASS, JS, jQuery, REST, JSON, Ubuntu, Nginx, MySQL, Solr, Elasticsearch, Git, Mongo, Memcached, PHPUnit, Python

Requirements

• Educational background: MSc degree in Computer Science (or STEM)
• At least 3 year working experience as a Senior PHP Developer

Skills

• Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis and of computer hardware/software systems
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with global teams
• Good mentoring skills and results driven approach
